We have taken a closer look at Windows Ubuntu for you.
Windows Ubuntu is based on Debian, or Ubuntu. It may be a sibling of LinuxMint.
It looks a lot like Windows, but is based on a Linux Ubuntu kernel.
The compatibility to Windows is unfortunately not given, at least in the version without license, even if the name could promise it. I was unable to get some Windows applications, e.g. Adobe Photoshop, to run with Wine. In the past, however, I have managed to do this under LinuxMint.
To make this work permanently, I would then install a Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 10 under Wubuntu/LinuxMint using VirtualBox. This requires a license key but is not that expensive.
Under Wine, libraries are probably always missing, which could lead to crashes.
While LinuxMint immediately integrates ISO images from DVDs or CDs in the graphical interface, Windows Ubuntu first tries to start K3B. With a graphical application, you first search for a program in the store.
Compatibility with Ubuntu, Debian and LinuxMint is probably given, at least we were able to install the x86_64 version of RustDesk without any problems.
The Microsoft Office that appears is a link to online versions from Microsoft. As a free application, I tend to recommend installing LibreOffice Writer and LibreOffice Calc from the Store.
The graphical interface left little room for maneuver or customization.
Icon overlays as with “desktop icons” in Windows is only possible to a limited extent and requires some knowledge of Linux operating systems. Personally, I still think LinuxMint is easier for someone who is not a computer geek but has some experience with Windows.
